11/12/2022 – We had an excellent start in the leagues but were bound to hit a rocky patch sooner or later. Over the past few weeks our results have been patchy but, nonetheless, there is some good news.
In the Southampton League Division 1, we beat University A and drew with a very strong Fareham A side. We currently stand second in the league with a match in hand.
The Dorset League has so far gone less well so far, with losses to Dorchester B and Bournemouth.
In the Bournemouth and District League Division 1, our A Team lost heavily to Highcliffe A. We now have a critical match against Poole B coming up. In Division 3 our B team drew with Bournemouth B and are still in with a good chance of winning the division.
We have now played two matches in the Bacchus League, where the results are not the key thing, but rather giving new players match experience is the goal. On Friday just gone, in the spirit of the league, we played a 5 board match (as opposed to the usual 4) against Southbourne, with some fighting chess played by all.
