Fabulous February

Overall the club had an excellent set of results in February.

In Division 1 of the B&DCL our A team drew with Southbourne A and beat Wimborne A. This leaves us on 50% with three matches to play in a very tight division.

In Division 3 of the B&DCL our B team beat Highcliffe C, leaving them top of the table.

The good news continued in the Dorset League Division 2, where we beat Weymouth B and Bournemouth. It was particularly pleasing to see Ben Willis-Owen notch up a win in his first match outside the Bacchus League.

In the Bacchus League we lost to Poole but good chess was played and the point of the league is more about gaining experience than winning.

In the Southampton League Division 1 we beat Southampton University. Whilst there are a few matches to play, it looks like we will probably finish mid-table.

The only bad news came in the final match of the month; we lost to Southampton in the second round of the Robertson Cup (the Southampton League KO cup). However, we won’t lose too much sleep over that given the progress in the leagues.
