We held our third Summer Blitz tournament on 4th July. There were a few people missing through variously holidays, birthdays, food poisoning (hope you are better Richard P!) and last minute work commitments. However, we also had a few unexpected last minute entries, including the welcome return of Ben Cooke for the first time since COVID – he said he was rusty (understandable) but he still played some very good chess. So we had 10 players for all but the last round.
As ever the games were played in a great spirit but there was also some very hard fought chess, including Graham vs Kevin and Ben C vs Graham, both of which could have gone either way and which were critical to the outcome of the tournament.
In the end Kevin, who had to leave early, won with 4/4 with Graham second on 3.5/5 and Rob and Richard O joint third on 3/5 points.
The next Summer Blitz will be held on 1st August.
