About Ringwood Chess Club
The Chess Club meets every Monday evening from 7:30pm, in the bar area of the Original White Hart Ringwood , High Street, Ringwood. Matches are played in the Restaurant which is also on the ground floor. We are very grateful to the management of the White Hart for providing the venue.
Players of all levels are welcome. Members can play casually or more competitively in teams in the Southampton and/or the Bournemouth and District (B&D) leagues. In the 2018/19 season, the club has two teams playing in the B&D league and three in the Southampton league. There is also a team playing in the Dorset County Chess Association County League Division 1.
There is no age restriction as such to join the club, although as we play in a licenced premises, under 18’s may not have access to bar areas unless accompanied at all times, typically by a parent. As explained on another page, league matches are played in the Restaurant which is accessed through the bar. Normal club nights, when matches are taking place, actually take place in the bar area, so are not in a private room
There is parking available on the High Street but for visiting players the easiest option is to follow the signs to the Furlong Car park and park at the “bus stop” end of the car park, almost opposite Sainsbury’s supermarket. The Original White Hart is a few minutes walk away from the Furlong Car Park.
For further details either come along to the Club on a Monday from 7:30pm, or contact the webmaster.
